  3. Mount the transmitter in a place that is not affected by the outdoor elements.
  4. Always keep back up batteries for the receiver.
  5. There are different underground fence systems for different size dogs; the last thing you want is a system for a Chihuahua used for a Labrador.
  6. It is recommended that you take off the receiver collar when the dog enters the house. Some household appliances may set off an unprovoked correction.
  7. Steep slopes in the containment area might affect the signal to the collar.
  8. It is advised that a puppy is at least 6 months old before he should be trained for an underground dog fence system.
  9. Establish the correct range and correction level for your dog. Some dogs might be more sensitive to the static than others.
